Social Media in Education

ClassTechTips is the Twitter page of EdTech consultant, Monica Burns. Dr. Burns is an educator, author, and speaker who is passionate about incorporating technology into the classroom effectively. Her page is home to a host of information, including videos and articles that provide helpful tips and ideas for using technology in the classroom. For example, she posted a link to an article she authored about a great keyword search activity. I would use ClassTechTips as a resource for discovering digital tools and for inspiration regarding how to meaningfully teach with technology and promote the digital skills I want my students to obtain.

Litwithlyns is the Instagram page of Lyns, a middle school ELA teacher who integrates technology into her classroom in creative ways. In addition to being a published blogger, Lyns is a certified educator for the tools Flipgrid, Quizlet, Edpuzzle, and Remind. On her Instagram page, Lyn shares a variety of resources and activities. Specifically, she shares digital escape rooms she has created that are related to the ELA content area and which can be bought or accessed using a school-funded subscription. I would use Lyn’s page to find fun, effective ways to incorporate technology into my ELA classroom with the goal of enhancing students’ learning.

Soundtrap is the Twitter page for Soundtrap for Education by Spotify. Soundtrap is a tool that allows students to create music and podcasts on any device. The Soundtrap Twitter page has helpful tips for how to get creative with incorporating music and podcasts into the classroom and the value of doing so. I would use this page for learning how to use Soundtrap in my classroom so that my students could have the opportunity to develop projects in a new way, such as writing a song based on a book we were reading or creating a podcast for their own book reviews.
